What is PRK?
PRK (Photo-Refractive Keratectomy) is another type of laser vision correction. PRK may help some patients who do not qualify for LASIK. Common reasons why LASIK may not be the best option for some patients include when the cornea is too thin or the cornea has an uneven shape.
Some patients in professions such as military, police, or competitive fighters may choose the PRK procedure because it is slightly less risky, but PRK has a longer recovery time. Most patients who have PRK return to work four or five days after surgery. Once healing is complete, the visual results of PRK are similar to LASIK.
